How occupational therapy is funded under the NDIS
Occupational therapy can sit across several parts of an NDIS plan. Pinnacle OT provides the clinical evidence and recommendations, and funding decisions are made by the NDIA. Therapy, assessments and skill building
Occupational therapy assessments, functional capacity assessments, therapy and daily living skill building are commonly funded from the Capacity Building - Improved Daily Living budget, where they are reasonable and necessary for the participant’s goals.
Assistive technology
Depending on the type and cost, assistive technology may be funded from Core or Capital Supports. The OT assessment provides the functional evidence and rationale for the equipment being requested.
Home modifications
Home modifications are funded from Capital Supports. Larger works commonly need an OT report describing the functional need, risks and recommended changes, alongside builder quotes.
